Hello, children! How are you?
Let’s revise the present continuous tense!
We use the present continuous tense to talk about things happening now.
Look at these examples in the affirmative form:
I am having breakfast.
Isobel is eating an apple.
Mum and Dad are working.
Remember:
We use the verb “to be” (am/is/are) + verb + -ing. Look at these spelling rules:
- Most verbs add -ing: play-playing; read-reading.
- Verbs ending in -e drop the e and add -ing: write-writing; dance-dancing.
- Verbs ending in vowel + consonant double the consonant and add -ing: sit-sitting; swim-swimming; run-running.
Complete the sentences with am, is, or are.
1. I ________ writing an email.
2. We ________ doing gymnastics.
3. Tom ________ reading a book.
4. You ________ wearing my jacket!
5. I ________ having lunch.
6. It ________ raining.
Complete the table with the -ing form of the verbs.
Look at the picture and write sentences.
