Let’s continue revising the present continuous tense!
We use the present continuous tense to talk about things happening now.
Look at these examples in the negative form:
I’m not having breakfast.
Isobel isn’t eating an apple.
Mum and Dad aren’t working.
Remember:
We use the verb “to be” (am/is/are) +verb + -ing. Look at these spelling rules:
- Most verbs add -ing: play-playing; read-reading.
- Verbs ending in -e drop the e and add -ing: write-writing; dance-dancing.
- Verbs ending in vowel + consonant double the consonant and add -ing: sit-sitting; swim-swimming; run-running.
Look at the pictures and verbs. Write a negative sentence and an affirmative sentence. Pay attention to spelling variations.
